Hey ladies and gentelnerds! Allow me to take you own a little trip through time. *Que old man voice* Way back in my day! Had to be.. Oh, about… 2002, 2003 There was a Television Station that went by the name of ‘WB’. On this network, There were shows. Lets see.. ‘The Wayans Brothers’, was on its last season if memory serves me right.. There was some ‘Teenage Witch’ of sorts. A ‘Vampire Slayer’ was on its 16th season.. AND! There was a very interesting concept that came around.. Superhero centered TV shows! It started with a thing called, ‘SMALLVILLE’
After a season and a half of success. WB tried to repeat the formula. This time focusing on the BATMAN side of the DCU. A show called
“BIRDS OF PREY!”
Following the story of Barbra Gordon, now Oracle, and her training and supervision of Huntress. The daughter of Batman and Catwoman.
The show was very much ahead of its time. (Btw.. You can stop reading this in the old man voice!) Good stories, great action, and pretty solid acting. Unfortunately, the ratings didn’t help it get to season Two. (Like I said.. It was ahead of its time..)
BUT!! I firmly believe, The CW can revive this show.. With some Tweeking of course! ARROW has been very successful for CW. Heading into its 4th Season, already it is spawned Two Spin-off’s.. THE FLASH and the soon to come, LEGENDS OF TOMORROW!
Why not an all female superhero team like The Birds Of Prey to come out of that!? They already have few of the ladies to fill out the cast.
They have THE HUNTRESS. BLACK CANARY.. Or is she WHITE CANARY.. Or are there Two Canary’s?!? Whatever! And with this new show coming out, it gives them an opportunity to introduce new characters that could further help build a Birds of Prey roster. Bring back Barbra Gordon! Bring Poison Ivy! (That would be epic!) I mean.. Tell me you wouldn’t want to see this?!…
Every week on the CW.. BIRDS OF PREY, following ARROW! Wednesday’s at 9!.. Sounds good to me!
