ICYMI: “JOSS WEADON Possibly directing DCEU BATGIRL Film”

Revealed a couple of days ago, Joss Weadon and the folks at DC/WB are in talks for the acclaimed director to Direct, write and produce a stand alone BATGIRL film.

This bods well for the future of the DC (sigh) ‘Extended’ Universe. Joss is a master behind the camera. A skilled storyteller. He knows, i mean, KNOWS how to translate strong female characters on the screen.
Buffy: The Vampire Slayer being a prime example.

And other characters that appeared in the Buffy Spin off ANGEL. And the Series FIREFLY,

And its follow up film SERENITY.

Lets not also forgot his amazing controbutions to the MCU.

The man knows what he is doing. If WB is smart, they will let the man do what he can do and only interject when its absolutely necessary.

But! Keep in mind folks.. Although sites like IMDB has him listed as working on Batgirl.. Nothing is final!

Niether WB/DC nor Wedon himself has confirmed or denied such talks. Although we know those talks are happening. However, we dont have a confirmed word from anyone that He IS doing it.

So, fingers crossed and a deal can be made. And lets hope Joss can work his magic for the DCEU and bring Batgirl to life!

What are your thoughts folks? Is Joss your man for the job? Comment below. Plz leave a like, and a follow!

Until next time.. Peace Out!

“MY THOUGHTS ON.. THE DCEU: IS IT DESTINED TO FAIL?!”

Greetings, ladies and gentelnerds and welcome.
Today I wish to discuss a question that was brought to me by a friend on twitter (@marvelzombiek) Back when i asked for ideas for my 200th blog. (clearly i saved it for a later blog and i think it comes at a good time too.)

He asked, “Is The DCEU Doomed To Fail?” and I’ve been contemplating on that for awhile now. At first, i would have said, ‘No.’ But.. I’m not so sure about that now.

A lot has happened, so allow me a moment to go down some details.

BVS: Dawn Of Justice:

Was supposed to be the official kick-off of the Warner Bros. Pictures DC centered “Cinematic Universe” (I honestly hate the ‘Extended Universe’ Tag) after the successful, but criticly scrutinized ‘MAN OF STEEL’. Things didnt go according to plan. In, what looked like, an attempt to play catch up with Marvel Studios. WB shoveled in so much plot into a dull plotted movie. It was embarrassing to watch as a fan. They hoped to set up an entire universe with 1 single film. Big mistake. The film was about 2 and a half hours long and they shoved about 3 movies worth of material in to it. (for further thoughts on BvS, check out these past blogs,  https://themarvelincblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/03/what-went-wrong-with-batman-v-supermandawn-of-justice/  and https://themarvelincblog.wordpress.com/2016/04/24/how-dcwb-should-have-set-up-the-dcecu/

SUICIDE SQUAD:

An improvment over BvS and a big risk for WB.  But still lacked a cohesive plot and suffered from poor editing. Although a much more financial success. But still got rammed up the ass without vasiline by the critics and most fans.
THE FLASH:

Is having the absouloute worst luck. The film has lost 3 directors. 2 screenwriters. Is currently on a full page 1 rewrite of the script and has no director at all. Its amazing the shit this project is going through.
NOW:

Wonder Woman is still dropping in June of this year followed by

Justice League in November. Those two films are probably WB’s last grasp at making this Movie Universe have continued life. I hope and Pray, WW is going to be awesome. I cant be anymore excited. Justice League.. Is yet another Zack Snyder directed film.. Fingers crossed is all i have to say about that.
Furthermore.. As I am putting this article together.. So much more has come to light from WB and the DCEU.

BATFLECK:

Has decided not to direct the upcoming Solo batman film. One that he himself has co-written and is executive producing. Its also being reported that He is looking to negotiate out of his contract with WB and no longer be the Bat. So lets see What happens with that.
SUICIDE SQUAD 2:

WB is looking for a director for the sequal, now that David Ayer has decided to turn his attention to

Gotham City Sirens (IF that even still happens) On that short list of Directors they are courting, Mel Gibson is one of those people.. (More on that in a later blog.)
Look. It is not DC’s fault. It’s Warner Bros. Fault. For soooo many years.. Decades even. They have sat on the thier DC property as if it was nothing but a small cash cow that they can dip into every couple of years or so, once in a blue moon. Superman and Batman being their get rich quick guys. “Put 40-50 mil into this movie. Get 200+ back in return.” They dont give a flying fuck about anything else..

Until they saw the potential of Billions these “Comic Book Movies” could make, once Marvel studios started doing their thing.

WB executive: “Hey Disney’s making billions over these picture book movies. Lets buy the rights to some of these things and do the same.”

WB lower executive: “Hey, we own a bunch of these things already!”

“WB Executive: “Since when?!”

WB lower exec: “the 1960’s”

WB Exce: “Really? Well then.. Get to it! Just do what they’re doing”

It’s sad really. Warner Bros. Is a fantastic film company. They crank out awesome movies, every year.. But they care about money. They care about awards. They care about profit. If it makes them money, and gets them Oscars and increases revenues.. To hell with everything else. WB’s doesnt care about building a universe. Or what it takes to do that.

The mistakes they’ve made have been because everything they have done thus far has been in reaction to something else.

Marvel phase 1- Man of Steel

Marvel phase 2- BvS

Guatdians of the galaxy- Suicide Squad

Fans loved Wonder Woman in BvS- make a WW movie.

Fans liked Harley Quinn- give her a stand alone movie.

Batman was awesome in BvS- Push back certain release dates and work in a Batman movie.

All reactionary. They didnt plan any of this ahead of time. Cause they dont really care. As long, as it makes money.

WB despreatly needs to find the right people to run this show.. And make DC Studios a reality. Do what disney does. “Oh, you need x amount of money for this? Ok. Have fun!” and let DC do what it CAN do best.

Dont be like Marvel. Marvel has always been known for interconnectivity with its stories for many years. Its what they do best. DC.. Has always been about character and Story. Not universe’s and connectivity. It was always about the stories that made their books stand out from Marvel.

Thats what thier movies needed to do. Have their franchises establish themseleves and then later, if the story was right.. Bring them all together.

That opportunity has gone and passed. As much as i would like them to just go back to the drawing board.. Its probably too late..

“Is the DCEU doomed to fail?”..

Maybe.. Maybe not. Its gonna be a hard road ahead for us fans.. But in order for The DCEU to survive and be successful.. WB needs to.. Backs The Fuck Off!! And find someone or a group of people that can set it all together before its too late.

Look, thats all i got folks.. I hope things work out. But thats my answer. I cant say its doomed or destined to fail.. But as long as WB is involved.. It just might Need to, in order for something to change for the better.

Let me know what you folks think. Until next time folks.. Peace out!

“Ben Affleck Steps Down From ‘THE BATMAN’ Directors Chair”

“Brrreeakking Neeewwzzz”
As of.. I dont know, 6 or so hours ago, it has been reported by many news sources. Ben Affleck has said.. “I’ll Be the Bat. But I Won’t Direct.”

Not his exact words. I think His exact words sounded more like this..

“There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.”

Then, WB added their own statment..

β€œWarner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life,”

Along with this piece of news. Reports are circulating that there is already a short list of Directors set to be approached for the job. On top of that list is “DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES” and the upcoming follow up, “WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES”  Matt Reeves,

He was also the man behind ‘Cloverfield’ as well. But with Films like the Ape movies on his resume, I like the idea of Matt Reeves to be the guy. I like it a lot.

Naturally, the geek community is in a bit of an uproar. But everyone needs to remember He’s still Batman. He’s still Producing and He’s still writing the movie. So hes still very much attached to The Batman movie. It makes sence that he decided not to direct. That is a very heavy and difficult job. Affleck has also stated that BvS was a new type of movie  making experiance.

He has stated that BvS was a new and unique movie making experiance. If you havent noticed, most of his movies arent very special effects heavy. ‘Argo’, ‘The Town’, just to name a couple of his most Recent, are what can be considered practical movies. No heavy speacial effects.

That can make one think, that a Batman movie set to be made like how these movies are made now.. Could have proven as too much of a challenge for him as a director. So perhaps its for the best that he doesnt direct. Let him focus on the role and all the other things.

In closing.. Ben Affleck is still Batman. He will not direct. And Matt Reeves of Planet Of The Apes is probably the front runner for the directing chair. And The Batman movie is still going to happen.

How do you folks feel about this news? Hit me up. Leave a comment. Follow/Subscribe. And Thx so much for reading!

Until next time folks.. Peace Out!

“DC/WB’S ‘THE FLASH’ Movie Hits Another Speed Bump!”

WB recently announced that ‘The Flash’ Movie is headed for a Page One Script Re-Write. Just Months before they were scheduled to start filming for a 2018 release. That means, anything that they had before when they first announced the Flash Movie a few years ago, is now garbage!

Which leaves me, and many others in my position to wonder..

WHAT THE SERIOUS FUCK WB!?!

Do they not know what the fuck they are doing?!

First, they give us the most bull shitiest cameo in BVS: Dawn Of Justice

Then the first director and screenwriter steps away due to Creative Differences.

They bring in another screenwriter to fix up the script.

SDCC comes around and they announce their new director and they are full speed ahead with The Flash. Everything is a Go!

CREATIVE DIFFERENCES! Forces new Flash Director to depart from project..

*SIGH*

Now.. Months before everything is to go before cameras. They announce they are going for a Page One rewrite of the whole damn script!

For fucks sake..

Give Greg Berlanti and his people The Flash

He makes Gold on the small screen on a weekly basis. He KNOWS the character and the world. Make this a trial run with the Flash, and if it pays off.. Partner him with Geoff Johns and let them run the whole shebang!

Its so damn simple!

And on a real quick side note: I really like Ezra Miller. I cant wait for his Flash in Justice League,

I just find the whole.. Jokey, jokey aspect of Barry Allen. I didnt grow up with Allen. Wally West was my Flash growing up. He was the jokester of the team and was a lot more of the loosy goosey kind of guy. I don’t know Barry Allen to be that kind of guy. But, it is what it is. And I still cant wait for it.

DC/WB is a mess right now.. I’ll address that in a future blog. However, I really hope they get Flash up on his feet as soon as possible.

What do you folks think about this mess? Share your thoughts and comments below.

So, until next time folks.. Peace Out!

“I TOLD YOU SO!: ‘GOTHAM CITY SIRENS’ IS OFFICIALLY IN THE WORKS!”

I. Told. You. So! It feels so good to get something right. It doesnt happen often, but when i do get something right.. Ho boy! It feels so good!

So.. it has been reported by ‘Hollywood Reporter’ that WB/DC Has officially proclaimed that the stand alone Harley Quinn film WILL be a “GOTHAM CITY SIRENS” movie. That, is also its title, and Suicide Squad director David Ayer..

Will be at the helm of this film.

As we already know.. The Birds of Prey are going to be in the film as well..

And Marggot Robbie is returning as Harley Quinn

Nothing else, concerning this particular movie has been announced as of yet. Besides the Title, who’s directing and What it is gonna be. I’ll try and fill you in as soon as anything drops.

IN OTHER NEWS:

DC/WB also announced that Will Smith will be returning as Deadshot for a Stand alone Deadshot movie! No official release date has been set, nor has a production date been announced. ALSO! Justice League 2 has been pushed back to allow space for Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie which should be ready to go in front of the cameras in the next year or so?! I think?! Maybe late 2017 they start on that.. We’ll see.

That all i got, What do you folks think about all this news?  You excited for the Gotham City Sirens movie?..

So, until next time folks.. I TOLD YOU SO!! πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜„πŸ‘

“FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM: MOVIE REVIEW” (NO SPOILERS)

Its been.. 6 years since ‘Harry Potter: And the Deathly Hallows part 2’ was in theaters. After a stint on British Broadway, Author and Creator J.K Rowling has brought us back to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, with

A story that follows Newt Skamander. The famous wizard that wrote the text book that young wizards read at Hogwarts, “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find them”

THE STORY: The year is 1926 and Young Newt Skamander travels to new york city with a magical case full of amazing creatures. When some of his creatures are accidentally let loose on the city, Newt is brought into events that could very well change the Wizarding World forever.

The story itself was great. Very well written. Fantastic Beasts is a wonderful addition to the Harry Potter Universe.

THE CAST: Eddie Redmaine is fantasticly awkward as Newt.

A relatively non social person who dedicates his life to the magical creatures of the world. The supporting characters are perfectly acted and casted. Colin Farrel was great.. (waisted, but great!) Ezra Miller is a surprise. But the real stand outs.. Are the Beasts..

They are beautiful and well crafted creatures. The pre-depression era was a well crafted world. Very well done.

THE POSITIVES: It is a beautiful movie. The creatures are stunning. Newt and the supporting cast are very fun. Colin Farrel was great. The wizarding world in a new area was fun to see.

THE NEGATIVES: Colin Farrel was totally waisted. Not going to go into any spoilers.. But he was really waisted. There wasnt enough focus on the ‘Fantastic Beasts’. I felt that in order for them to set up the next set of movies, they sacrificed the main stories potential. Which wasnt the best idea, but i understand what they wanted to do.

OVERALL: Fantastic Beasts has a whole lot of potential to be the next best Wizarding Franchise. Focus more on the characters and what happens to them and not lose them in the wider string of events.  But overall.. It was a really good film. Worth watching for any Harry Potter fan. I give “FANTASTC BEASTS and WHERE TO FIND THEM” a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/10!

Have you seen Fantastic Beasts yet? What did you think? Hit me up!

So, until next time folks.. Peace Out!
