WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS: MARVEL/SONY’S “SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING”(SPOILER FREE)

Greetings Ladies and Gentelnerds! “WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS” is back.. Today’s movie?..

Ok.. Here. We. Go!

THE STORY: “Several months after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Peter Parker, with the help of his mentor Tony Stark, tries to balance his life as an ordinary high school student in Queens, New York City while fighting crime as his superhero alter ego Spider-Man as a new threat, the Vulture, emerges.”

I thought the story was a great story. The plot was surprisingly strong. I dont know who can get more credit when it comes to the story. Marvel or Sony. There are some elements that can point to where a Marvel idea was put in and where a Sony idea was put in. There are.. Element problems with the story (I’ll get to that later) But over all, a very good story.

THE CAST:

By far the best cast in a Spider-Man film. Ever! The two stand outs.. Tom Holland and Michael Keaton! Keaton actually was.. A god send for this film.

If he was not in this movie, as this character.. This would have been a completley different movie. I honestly believe he was the backbone of the movie. Tom was a fantastic Peter Parker and a very good Spider-Man.

With room to grow as that part of the character. Robert Downey jr. Was RDJ. What more can i say about him that hasn’t been said already. Morisa Tomai is a great version of Aunt May. They play up the idea of her being the ‘Hot Aunt’ very well. Zandaya

was a bright spot every time she was on screen. The other members of the supporting cast was good.

Very talented actors and actresses, played their parts perfectly.

THE POSITIVES:

Keaton. Keaton. Keaton. Keaton! I’ve never loved The Vulture, until now. He gave that character such.. Life. Such flavor. Such a soul! I rank Vulture just behind The Kingpin in the list of best Marvel Villans,

1: Loki

2: Kingpin

3: Vulture

4:Ultron

5:Red Skull

6: Zemo

Thats my list..

Tom Holland..

Brilliant. Just brilliant. Couldnt have asked for a more perfect Parker. With the added benefit of his Spider-Man of being able to grow and become the best Spider-Man since Maguire. Zandaya was great. The story. The characters. Although we never got this version of The Shocker.. (Spoiler?!)

The version we did get..

Was both interesting and fun!

Donald Glovers cameo..

Maybe a spoiler.. But heres a hint..

Very interesting.

The use of comedy was well played. It wasn’t a full blown comedy but there was a lot of comedic moments, all of them used appropriately.

And lastly.. The Twist with Vulture..

Very, very well played. Saw it coming at the moment it was coming.. But very well done and very well executed.

THE NEGATIVES:

Ned made me miss Harry Osborne. Not a knock on the actor. He was good. Just did not like the character. Annoying in my opinion. Used very well at the right times. But just.. Did not sit well with me. Maybe in the sequel? Hopefully I’ll get used to him.  Flash Thompson.. Not my Flash, but.. Okay, I’ll go with it. Diversity for the sake of diversity, isn’t always the best thing in my opinion. I could appreciate the freshness of this new Flash Thompson.. Just.. Idk.. Not what im used too, not what i was hoping for. But, I’m gonna go with it. And no.. It is not because of the race of the actor nor the look of the actor. It was the characteristics and the way he was presented that didn’t grab me. He could have at least bulked up or something. Do some pushups kid.  The “Other Twist”?… Fuck You! Reminded me of the shit Nolan pulled in ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Did not appreciate that and it stunk of Sony’s handiwork. A lot of the things i didnt like, felt like things Sony shoved in. I could be wrong, I dont know what was added by whom, but it just felt like things that were not necessary, was Sony’s doing. Spider-man was soo damn clumsy! I have never seen such a clumsy version of spidey, ever, in my whole life. I hated that. He seemed more comfortable in Civil War, taking on other superheroes, then he did swinging through the city. It was weird. Granted. I understand the fact that this is a 15 year old kid, and they are trying something different and new.. But damn! It was like watching George of The Jungle “Watch out for that tree!” Lastley, he seemed.. De-powered. Did not like that. He seemed slower for no apparent reason. I saw a severe lack of Spider-Sense. Like as if he didn’t have it. Hope they change that.

OVERALL:

The best Spider-Man film since, Spider-Man 2! A great time at the movies. A worthy addition to the MCU. A great movie. Not without its flaws, but what movie doesn’t have some of those. Also, be sure to stick around for both After credits scenes.. Totaly worth it! (😉😁)

I give “SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING” a score of 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 6/10. Absolutely Great! A must see!

Let me know your thoughts folks. What did you like, what didn’t you Like. Hit me up. Comment below. Please like and follow! Much appreciate you reading..

Until next time folks.. Peace out!

WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEW: Marvel’s “GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2”

Hello there ladies and gentelnerds! Long time no see. I gots lots of catching up to do seeing as to that I’ve been pretty ghost.. So why dont we start with a brand new edition of “WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS!” todays movie?..

“GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Vol 2”

THE STORY: Its been a few months since the first film and the gang are Guardians for Hire. After a job for an alien race known as The Sovereign and their leader Ayiasha.

goes sideways, The team find themselves on the run. With a little help from the Mysterious EGO, claiming to be Star Lords father. The team discovers just what it actually means to be Family! And that its not only blood that can bind people together.

The story in itself, honestly? Isn’t the strongest thing about the movie. Its what happens within the story that propels everything forward. Yondu’s story had much more going on, yet was not the main focus. The Father-Son story between Ego and Peter was.. I dont want to say forced, but it was rushed at some points and it wasn’t very strong. Kurt and Chris were excellent and did a great job with what they were given. It just wasn’t the strongest part of the film. The backbone and heart of the movie was the characters. You can tell it was the characters that James Gunn cared for and has a tremendous amount of respect for. So the main plot suffered for that fact just a bit.

THE CAST:

Fantastic! Wonderful! A true treat. Everyone was on point. Batista was a delight. They gave him so much more to work with and he ran with it. Micheal Rooker’s Yondu

has become probably my favorite character of the film, only second to of course..

BABY GROOT! My god he was so damn adorable. He stole my heart and every scene he appeared in.

Sylvester Stallone’s cameo (possible spoiler alert!) as…

Starhawk, was, surprisingly delightful. He could have easily mailed in a performance.. But he didn’t. He acted. He put his heart into it, and i really appreciate it! I would love to see him continue apperaing in the Cosmic MCU.

Kurt Russel’s EGO

was really cool. He played the role as true to character as they could make him. I really cant go too much further in to Ego without spoiling anything. But, Kurt was great.

Ayiasha of The Sovereign..

Too much to say that would border on being a spoiler. But she was very interesting. And i wonder if we will ever see her again. I would be interested in her return.

THE POSITIVES:

The Cast. Baby Groot. Yondu. The Cameos. Oh god! That Stan Lee cameo was fucking epic! I honestly can’t go in to it here.. But oh yeah… I will be digging deep in to that scene. The comedy was top tier. Dave Batista’s Drax was a comedic highlight. The deep cosmic cuts. The 5 or 4 after credits scenes were the best.

THE NEGATIVES: A surprisingly weak plot. The 2nd and 3rd acts was poorly rushed. The soundtrack, Awesome Mix Vol.2 isnt as strong (at least for me) as Vol.1. Non of the tracks stuck with me as much as the first ones did. But that could just be me. The movie would have benefited more from a longer run time.

OVERALL: Another Marvel Studios Masterwork. I cant say its better then the first film, but it can stand shoulder to shoulder with the first film. Its great. In comparison with other Marvel sequels, IE: Thor: The Dark World, Iron Man 2, Iron Man 3 and Avengers 2. Its better then all of those. Its a strong sequel. Not as strong as Winter Soldier, but its a great sequel. A Must See for everyone!!

I score “GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL.2” 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 8 and 1/2 stars.

What did you folks think of GOTG2? Hit me up! Comment below, leave a like and a follow. Thx for reading folks.

Until next time.. Peace Out!

WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEW: Disney’s “BEAUTY And The BEAST”

Greetings Ladies and Gentelnerds, and welcome to another addition of “WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS”

todays movie?.. (do you have to ask?)

“Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST”

 https://youtu.be/e3Nl_TCQXuw

THE STORY: Boy meets witch, acts like a dick and gets turned into a Beast, Girl’s dad does stupid shit and gets imprisoned by Beast, Girl takes dad’s place as prisoner, Girl gets Stockholm syndrom and falls for Beast, Beast learns what it means not to be a dick, They Fall In Love and.. Then he turns into a good looking dude and gets the girl.. “Tale as old as time” Really i debated on how i was going to do this review.. Is anything a spoiler? The story itself is like.. Hundreds of years old. The Animated Movie is like 20+ years old. Who the hell hasnt seen Beauty and The Beast?!

Whatever..
The story is great. Its not exactly a shot for shot, song for song remake of the original. But its really good. I enjoyed all the old stuff and really liked the additions to the story. I was hooked the moment the opening theme played. I liked the actual visualization of the ‘Enchantress’ and the curse she put on the prince. The special effects were great. The musical numbers really cool. Really, a great movie. Disney does it again.

THE CAST: Talent across the board. Great performances by those who were there. Great vocal performances by the non existent actors. The guy who played The Beast was cool.

Emma Watson…

Once i think i cant love her anymore then i already do.. She goes and gives me more to love. She can sing and she sings wonderfully. People should compare her to the original voice actress because that woman was a proffesional! Emma clearly has the pipes. But its not what she does. And what she does here was gokd enough for me. Emma was freaking awesome, and is honestly one of the only reasons i decided to watch this damn movie. Other then the curiosity/nostalgia factor.

THE POSITIVES: Emma Watson.

THE NEGATIVES:

Just joking. But Emma Watson was awesome!

Great acting. The CGI characters were cool. The music was on point. They really brought the movie to life beautifully. The ending was a bit of a surprise. I will not spoil anything.. But they changed the ending from the animated version. A drastic change, but not a bad change. It worked.

THE NEGATIVES: The Beast…

Was not terrible. The visual effects to create him was good.. Just.. I wouldnt have been mad if they used some practicle effects. He wasn’t very impressive for me. I understand the need to try and make this..

Look as real as possible.. But i think they could have done a mix of practicle and digital effects. Uhm.. Could have used more action in the final act. I remembered a more physical altercation between Beast and Gaston ( I could be mistaken) or at least they could have been more physical at that part. Oh! The “BE OUR GUEST” song.. Not a knock on Ewan Mcgregor’s singing voice.. But that rendition sucks compared to the animated film. I did not like it. The presentation was great, but lacked in the vocal department.

OVERALL: Yet another great addition to Disney’s live action remakes. They keep getting better and better. Leaves me with high hopes for their future remakes. Mostly Jon Favuro’s “LION KING” remake. I give “BEAUTY AND THE BEAST” a score of 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 6/10. Very Enjoyable, worth checking out!

Thx for reading folks. Have you seen Beauty and The Beast yet? What are your thoughts? Comment below, leave a like and please follow the blog.

Until next time folks.. Peace Out!

WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS!: “LA LA LAND” vs “MOONLIGHT” (The Best Picture Debate prt. 2)

Welcome to the second Part to the ‘Best Picture Debate’ that I have with myself between “LA LA LAND” and “MOONLIGHT”. Part 1 was a review of Moonlight, This one..

“LA LA LAND”

THE STORY: A jazz pianist falls for an aspiring actress in Los Angeles..

Just want to say quickly…

FUCK YOU LA LA LAND!! FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU! And FUCK YOU!

It is a simple story. They meet cute. They fall in love. Careers start growing and failing and then… FUCK YOU LA LA LAND!

Ok.. Im gonna be as honest as possible. First 10-15 minutes.. Wasn’t really feeling it much, besides the opening dance/song number. (loved it enough to download it to my mp3. “Another Day Of Sun” great song. Catchy beat.) Anyhoo.. Then Ryan Goslings character showed up and everything was going great!

I think i may have a Man crush on Ryan Gosling.. (thx a lot La La Land.. Fuckers!) Anyways.. The whole Love Affair between Emma and Ryans’s character was awesome and beautiful. Loved every minute of it! But then shit started getting shitty.. 1.. Just 1 bad desicion on Ryan’s part fucked things up and then things got good. Then things went fucking sideways.. I hated the ending.. I hated it! That is why i say.. “FUCK YOU LA LA LAND! And your little 12 year old looking Director.. FUCK YOU!”

SPOILER ALERT!!

THEY DON’T END UP TOGETHER! There.. I said it.. They gave me a beautiful love story, and they ripped my heart out!

THE CAST: A wonderful cast. Ryan is a fucking star. He should have won best actor at the oscars. I have a feeling he’s going to be another Leo DiCaprio. Great performance after great performance, nomination after nomination.. And then finally, when he does a pretty good role aftdr a really great one, He’ll win an Oscar. Emma Stone.. She was alright. Dont think she deserved the Oscar though.. And in honesty. I hated her character. If and When you see it.. I think you’ll understand why. But she was okay.
THE POSITIVES: There is a reason why these types of movies arent made anymore.. Because Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire and all those stars of that bygone era, are Dead! These movies died with them. It was nice to see it here. Even for just a bit. The dance numbers were cool. The music was great. The story.. *sigh* was wonderful. For the most part.

THE NEGATIVES: That Fucking ending though! Ruined the whole damn thing! Kinda.. But yea.. It fucking sucked.

OVERALL: “LA LA LAND” is in fact a beautifully shot and well paced movie. Acting. Style. It was a good movie. The ending however.. Kinda hurt it for me.. I give La La Land a score of 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟6/10.

Keeping in mind how both films made me feel and the experience they gave me respectively.. I believe, “MOONLIGHT” desreved the Best Picture Oscar. From Beginning to End it had me focused and in to the story. La La Land wasn’t that consistent for me. Opening Number aside, i did not care about the beginning of the story until midway through it. The middle was the best part. The end ruined it for me. It pulled the rug right out from under me. And I honestly did not appreciate that about the film.

Both.. Beautiful film and movies are better off for having them exist.. But, Moonlight deserved the win in my book.

What do you folks think?! Hit me up!

Until next time folks… Peace Out!

WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS! “MOONLIGHT” vs “LA LA LAND” (The Best Picture Debate Prt.1)

Greetings Ladies and Gentelnerds, and welcome to a Special Edition of WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS!

Every since the Oscars Best Picture debacle,

I found myself very curious about these two films. “Did The Right Movie Win?” My hat was not in either of thier respective corners, but i have been interested in watching them in my own time. But i wanted to answer this question to myself. So This week is gonna be a two part movie review.

I saw “Moonlight” First. So.. I will start there. (SPOILERS POSSIBLE)

THE STORY:
A chronicle of the childhood, adolescence and burgeoning adulthood of a young black man growing up in a rough neighborhood of Miami.

The story structure itself reminded me a lot of ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ as in, How it told a period of time in the life of the main character throught the years of his life. From Childhood, Teen age and Adulthood. It is a solid film. From beginning to end. It opened my eyes to the African American Gay Community, and how difficult it could be for a black man to be comfortable with who they are when thier own community can be so against them. Its sad and frustrating to see, even as a straight hispanic man. I have a 1 favorite part in the whole film.. After being beaten by a close friend because of the cowardly workings of a school bully, The main character comes back to school the next day, and cracks the bull upside the back with a chair! I loved every second of that scene.

THE CAST:  is in top form. Mahershala Ali’s character.. Was, unfortunately, in the film for a very short period of time. The main character, (Known as Little, Chiron and Black through the three stages of his life) Played by Alex R. Hibbbert (Little) Ashton Sanders (Chiron) and Trevante Rhodes (Black) was the key focal point while every one else felt more like players in the story. That is not to say the acting wasn’t wonderful.. It just, for me, i didnt care as much about them.

THE POSITIVES: Great Story. Solid acting. Great pacing. Nicely shot and directed. Great Message.

THE NEGATIVES: The director had an annoying habit of shooting certain scenes in a constant, one take circle. I almost felt dizzy. Some bad editting choices at certain parts. Mahershala Ali should have had a much more longer, more prolific role. He deserved the Oscar.. But i wanted more.

OVERALL:
A beautiful film. An important film. All around well done. I give “MOONLIGHT” a score of 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 7/10. Worth seeing for any socially conscious Human Being!

Stay Tuned For Prt 2. “LA LA LAND”

Until Next time folks.. Peace Out!

WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS!: “LOGAN”(No Spoilers)

Greetings and salutations, Ladies and Gentelnerds! And welcome to another addition of “WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS!”

Today’s Movie (if it isnt obvious..)

“LOGAN”

THE STORY:

James Howlett (aka: Logan) has been serving out his years as a Limo Driver for hire down in the southwest. His days as an X-Man long gone and far in the past. After a mysterious event took out the X-Men, all that is left, is him and a sickly and aged Professor Xavier. Mutants are all but extenict. Logans quiet life is turned upside down when a young girl with the same powers as his, shows up

with a band of secret government soldiers, known as “The Revers” on her tail.

Logan reluctantly comes to the girls aid. Only to discover her shocking history and what it means for his future.

Very, very.. VERY loosely based on the hit graphic novel “Old Man Logan”

By Mark Millar and Steve Mcniven. The only similaritys are Logan, it takes place in the future and theres a road trip.. Literally.. Thats all that has this film resembeling the comic. But you know what.. It does not matter.

“LOGAN” is a beautiful movie. It transcends beyond a comic book film. Its a movie about a man coming to grips with himself. Past, Present and Future. After so many years of physical and mental abuse, from himself and outside forces, Logan learns what it means.. To be human. To feel, Happy.. To feel Love. The story, is short for the films 2 hr run time. But it is very simple and to the point. James Mangold directed a masterpiece of a film. He also wrote the story and co-wrote the screenplay. Which was brilliant.

THE CAST:

First and foremost.. Dafne Keen, stole the Mother Fucking Show!

Her X-23 was probably the best part of the movie. Besides Hugh Jackman, She was.. Phenomenal. She literally stole every frame she was in. As i did some research as i began to write this review. It turns out, this is the young ladys very first film debut.. And what a debut! She had a previous role on a tv series called “Refugees”. But Logan is her first feature film and she Rocked it.

It sucks that this is Hugh Jackmans final turn as Wolverine. But he really brought his A game for this.. And thats saying something. Cause everytime he puts on those claws, he is on point. Every Time. But, somehow.. This felt different. His performance was.. Heavier, of you will. He reall capped it all off pefectly and i Hate to see him go. I really do.

Patrick Stewart’s Xavier is as always, wonderful and yet.. Extremely differnt. I’ve never heard Xavier drop so many F bombs in my entire life. And im happy i got to experience it. This also being Stewarts last go around as Xavier.. It was a beautiful, yet heartbreaking send off for him and the character.

THE POSITIVES:

Direction. Acting. Story. Cinematography.. Everything was beautifully done. Honestly.. Its near perfection.

THE NEGATIVES:

The fact that it is not in any continuity to any of the previous films at all, is not a negative. What, IS a negative for me.. I would have loved to have seen the Continuity it would have sprang from. (if that makes any sense) I wish more of the other movies were within this time frame.

For a 2hr 17 min film.. I wanted more. It left me wanting more. Not that it doesnt end well.. I just didnt want it to end, i guess? I feel like more could have been added in the begining, middle and end. I feel like, there might have been more material left on the editing floor and i hope we get a longer cut on the DVD release (hopefully).

There could have been more.. Bonding time for X23 and Logan. Or i would have at least appreciated a little more togetherness.

A flashback of (SPOILERS) when (Spoiler) reveals (Spoiler) before hes (Spoiler) by (Spoiler) Wow.. Didnt think i could pull that off.. Now! Here’s the trick. If you have seen the film, and can guess what the fuck im talking about. Please feel free to hit me up with the answer and your thoughts.

OVERALL:

“LOGAN” is in fact, the “The Dark Knight” of the X-Men franchise of Movies (and it only took them 8 movies and 20 some odd years to get it done.) An honest to goodness Masterpiece from start to finish. It grabs you by the neck on a coaster ride of emotions, and doesnt let you go until the very end.. And when its over.. You wish you never stopped. You will laugh. You will cry. You will be happy. You will be sad. And then, when all is said and done, You Will Be Greatful. I give “LOGAN” a score of 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 9/10 (probably my higest score to date.) You have to see this.

Thank you all so much for reading and before I go.. I just want to send a message to James Mangold and the People at 20th Century Fox.. Although i know they may never read this.. “Please, Re release Logan around Oscar voting season later this year, in Black and White. Have Hugh Jackman up for best actor, Patrick Stewart best Supporting, Dafne Keen Best Supporting Actress( or best Lead is fine) and Logan for Best Picture and Best screenplay and best cinematography and yourself for Best Director. This Movie.. Truly deserves such recognition. And also.. Thank You! Thank you for such a beautiful and wonderful movie experiance.”

Have you guys seen Logan yet, what did you think? Hit me up. Please leave a like. And pkease follow/subscribe. Thank You.

Until Next Time Folks… Peace Out!

WEEKEND MOVIE REVIEWS: ‘OSCARS 2017’ A Short Recap!

Lets me be honest.. I watched The Walking Dead, more then i watched This Years Oscars. But i switched back once TWD was finished and caught one hell of a show..

I’ll keep this short and sweet.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Viola Davis for “Fences”

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR: Mahershala Ali for “Moonlight”

BEST DIRECTOR: Damien Chazelle for “La La Land”

BEST ANIMATED FILM: “Zootopia”

BEST MAKEUP AND HAIRSTYLING: “Suicide Squad”

BEST COSTUME DESIGN: “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them”

BEST VISUAL EFFECTS: “The Jungle Book”

BEST ACTRESS: Emma Stone for “La La Land”

BEST ACTOR: Casey Affleck for “Manchester By The Sea”

La La Land took home the most awards for the night 6 in total, leaving “Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King” still Oscars champ.
But that my friends is not the biggest news..

The final award, BEST PICTURE.. I laughed my fucking ass off.. In case you missed it.. Here’s the rundown.

Warren Betty and Faye Dunaway were to present the nights winner. Upon opening the envelope, Warren seemed confused and unable to announce a winner.. Looking perplexed, he looked at Ms. Dunaway and seemed to look offstage for some assistance.

Unsure what to do, he handed the envelope to Dunaway and she proclaimed “The Oscar Goes To, La La Land!” que music, everyone goes on stage and thank you speeches are being made..
However, behind the person giving his speech. I see a man with a headset racing around looking for the envelope.. Turns out.. Dunaway and Beatty were given the wrong envelope!

They were given the Best Actress envelope, which read, “Emma Stone: La La Land” not the Best Picture Envelope that had, “Moonlight” which was the real winner!

To put into perspective how shocking and amazing this is (and fucking hillarious!) The Oscars are 89 years old.. This. Has never. Happened before! Who the fuck was handing out the envelopes!?
Naturally, everyone is blaming Beatty and surprisingly enough not both he and Dunaway. Bit its neither of their fault! Unlike Steve Harvey who actually just didnt read the right fucking name! They were given the wrong Envelope!

Kimmel, from what i did watch, was pretty good as host. The bits with Matt Damon were freaking funny.

The Best Picture botch was what saved the show! The Oscars pulled ‘A Harvey’

So.. Thats my recap. Thanks for reading. Until next time folks.. Peace Out!
